How do you become a medium ?

19/04/2018

How did I become a medium, and how does it work, is the most common question that I get asked from the people I meet?

I wondered in to the world of mediumship at the age of 11, this was then I met my first medium, and again when I was 16, when my nan died.  I had finished my GCSEs, left school and was trying to make sense of this new changed world. My Mum wanted to go to a local spiritualist meeting and I was worried for her sanity, so I went along to look after her and make sure nothing weird happened.  I had no expectation and was convinced that it would be a waste of time…… How wrong was I.

So there we were, Mum and I sitting among 80 people, the medium working that night,  came directly to me, Stating “I have your nan here, she’s not long passed over”  She went on to give me a very detailed and accurate message from my recently departed Nan, the medium (Ruth Aitken)  mentioned details of my nan’s life, the people she knew and loved and spoke to me about the changes going on around me, starting every sentence with ” your nan is telling me”  The lade working was telling me things that no one else could possibly know right down to the details of my first mediumistic experience with my nan who visiting me the day she died and spoke to me!
In that instant my world had changed.

The experience profoundly changed my life to such a degree that I left their full of questions, hope and inner sense that I had literally experienced a form of real life magic.

As like many other people I always associated psychics to either talk to the dead or predict the future. I was cynical about their authenticity.  However, when I reflect back now and see how I wanted to believe, that my scepticism was out of fear; what if this life is really just it?  what if there is nothing more.?.  I am so happy that I went that day as it released me from all my fears on the matter.

Over 25 years have passed since that day, the older I become I found strength from the knowledge that the people we love and cherish are still around us, waiting to phone home.   None of us escape loss and grief, and deep down human beings desperately long for the same things: We all desire to be happy and silently hope that our happiness continues beyond this life and the world we experience. The more I do my work, the more minds that touch mine from the spirit world, the more strength and comfort I receive.

I’ve come to realise the work of a medium is much more than just passing on details and evidence about the memory of those in the spirit world, but to help the people I meet to be aware of not only their loved ones in the spirit world, but also to become aware of the presence of their own spirit.

The more open we become to listening to the spirit within, the spirit of ourselves, the more we can be aware of the spirits of those who are around us, loving us, inspiring us and where possible guiding us to make good choices for our life experience.   As we embrace the idea that talking to the spirit is simply talking to people we love and realise what a super and natural power this, and embrace the fact we are supernatural beings, it is then our lives can really change, it is then we can embrace the reality of a mindful and spiritual life.
